Katy Perry Dark Horse Eye Makeup Tutorial

I always love a Katy Perry video, and although the plot of her newest video “dark horse” went over my head, as ever she looked amazing. I have loved the song since I bought the album and since watching the video I have been inspired to create a similar look. I decided to recreate the black wig look she has throughout most of the video. I didn't have the supplies to create the exact look but I think you’ll get the gist of it. Feel free to use any eye shadows you have to create a similar look.

Step 1. I primed my lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion
Step 2. Using my Sleek Mediterranean Monaco Palette I brushed the lightest shade “bamboo” all over my eyelid up to the crease.
Step 3. using an angled brush I applied a deep purple into the outer corner (unfortunately the only purple I owned was in my Disney villains palette but any will do)
Step 4. Then I applied “washed ashore” a orange shade from the Sleek Monaco Palette to the centre of my lid,
Step 5. I used “magenta Madness” over the top of the purple to blend the colours together.
Step 6. In my inner corner I used Barry M fine glitter dust in no15, which is a white pigment. Then I applied no10, a bright yellow, in-between that and the orange.
Step 7. Use a fluffy eye shadow brush to blend all the eye shadows so you have a gradient effect.
Step 8. This is the hard bit. Using a black eyeliner (I used Maybelline eyestudio lasting drama gel eyeliner and a felt pen style eyeliner for some of the trickier bits)draw a line along your top lashes, then draw another line starting underneath your eye, barely touching your waterline, and starting practically on your nose. The line should be fairly flat and shouldn’t meet with the corner of your eye. Its hard to explain but look at the picture and you might get it. after that draw another line that follows your crease from about halfway between you eyebrow and the corner of your eye and follow it to the outer corner, then join that to the point (again refer to the picture).
Step 9. Mascara, for the full Katy Perry effect, falsies are a necessity but I skipped this step. I used the Maybellinebig eyes mascara.

And that’s pretty much it. I did apply bronzer, blusher and lip stain. In the picture Katy appears to have very pink lips and Cheeks so I used Sleep Pomegranate blusher and Maybelline 24 hr super stay bold matte lip stain. There are some pictures of the other looks from the video below, all are more or less the same with slight variations, so have a go at them if you prefer.
Only a short post today, I’m hoping to get back to posting regularly this week and if not you should all tell me off.

See you all soon. xoxo
